We work strengthening democratic institutions by promoting transparency, participation and citizen collaboration, as well as accountability mechanisms. We seek to contribute to the improvement of public policies and management with a human rights perspective.

Area Coordinator › Nina Sibilla

María Victoria is a lawyer from the Faculty of Law of the National University of Córdoba (UNC). She completed his Master’s degree in Governance and Human Rights at the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM). She was an intern at the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights in Washington (2017) and at the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in San José, Costa Rica (2019).

Previously, she worked as a lawyer in the Judiciary of Córdoba.

She participated in research teams on environmental and social rights at the Center for Legal and Social Research (CIJS) of the UNC and has teaching experience in the areas of Human Rights and Professional Practice.

She has been part of Fundeps since 2016 and is currently Coordinator of the Democracy Area.

Release of the NGO the selection of the person responsible for the Ombudsman’s Office

Civil society organizations (CSOs) state the need to stop this process of appointing the person who is the head of the Ombudsman's Office, and to urgently open a space for citizen participation that guarantees that Argentina will once again have a suitable Ombudsman and with sufficient legitimacy to ensure the defense of human rights.

The people of the Argentine Nation have not had an Ombudsman for eight years. During that same time, civil society organizations have requested Congress to designate this figure, as ordered by Article 86 of the National Constitution.

One of lime and one of sand in the case against Porta Hnos.

I see I see what do you see? One thing. What thing? Wonderful. And like this children's game the situation continues and the state does not appear. Córdoba adds one more case of absence of the authorities before a socio-environmental conflict. The actions of those who govern us are worrisome and alarming. This time it was the turn of the National State as defendant. The public hearing of conciliation lacked those who represented the company Porta Hnos S.A., which in the end is a private subject, and those who did it representing the State.
